Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has weighed in on the ongoing Osun State governorship election, alleging that top figures of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are on the ground in the state to support the party’s candidate, Bola Oyebamiji while prominent opposition leaders are absent to rally round the incumbent governor seeking re-election, Ademola Adeleke.
Sani made the observation in a social media post on Saturday as voters across Osun State cast their ballots to elect the next governor.
According to him, the presence of senior APC figures in Osun has left the Governor, Ademola Adeleke to face the electoral battle largely on his own.

“All the Big shots of the ruling party are in the state the Governorship election is taking place. The big shots of the opposition are somewhere else; leaving the incumbent Governor to battle for his life,” Sani wrote.
He likened the political situation surrounding the election to a scene from National Geographic, where a zebra is surrounded by a pride of lions.
“That’s how a Zebra is surrounded by a pride of lions in the National Geographic Channel,” he added.
Sani’s comment comes as the keenly contested Osun governorship election enters its decisive stage, with Adeleke seeking to retain the governorship and APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji mounting a strong challenge.
The election has attracted significant national attention, with APC and Accord Party supporters engaging in a fierce contest across the state.
Reports ahead of the poll also indicated concerns over vote-buying allegations and possible electoral violence.
The Osun governorship election is being closely watched as a major political contest ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the outcome expected to have implications for the strength of the major political parties in the state.
As voting continues, attention remains focused on whether Adeleke will secure another term or whether Oyebamiji and the APC will reclaim Osun State.
